(Salesian High School, Richmond, CA) The Salesian Oratory was never more alive than at Salesian High School, Richmond, when the community celebrated Don Bosco Day on January 31, 2013! The day began with the Eucharist honoring St. John Bosco and presided by Bishop Alexander Brunett, the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Oakland. Also present were Fr. Tim Ploch, Provincial, Salesians and other members of the Salesian Family, local clergy, alumni and alumni parents. At the conclusion of the liturgy was the tradition of students petitioning the Bishop for a few days off. This year it was a "James Bond" theme in a video produced by the students. Liturgy was followed by breakfast, in the residence for the guests, and among Faith Families for the school community. The "play" part begun with short volleyball and basketball games between seniors and faculty, and the rest of the day were optional activities for students. Among the activities were competitive games in basketball, flag football and soccer; the tennis courts were available for informal matches; a huge jumper and sumo wrestling; karaoke , video games and arts and crafts; and ice-cream sundaes. The day concluded with a prayer and message that "Don Bosco would have been proud!"
